C. Horner: Pirelli should pay for testing in Bahrain
Head of the Red Bull team, Christian Horner says that if Pirelli wants F1 teams to test their cars in Bahrain, the company should pay for the teams to do that.
F1 teams were discussing where they want to test their new cars during the winter testing and they are yet to announce the decision. Considering that F1 regulations are changing significantly in 2017, Pirelli wants winter testing to take place in Bahrain. Meanwhile, a few F1 teams, including Red Bull, don't want to leave Europe for winter testing and suggest to test their cars in Barcelona.
Christian Horner thinks that if Pirelli wants F1 teams to test in Bahrain, the company should pay for it.
'' Scenario is simple - if Pirelli wants us to test where temperatures are higher and where it's better for them, they should cover all expenses. '' - said Horner.
'' The payment could go from 300,000 to 750,000 pounds, depends from the team. It's wrong to ask teams to spend that amount of money, when we could just go to Barcelona. ''
Also, Horner doubts that Bahrain is the best place to test tires for the start of the season.
'' Let's not forget that first four races of the season will take place in Melbourne - where it can be pretty cold, in China - where it's really going to be cold, in Bahrain - which will take place at night and Russia - another place where it can also be cold. ''
Well, we can only wait. Will keep you posted with the latest updates.
