Williams' 2017 Challenger
This Morning, Williams Formula 1 team unexpectedly revealed a digital rendering of their FW40 2017 car. This has given fans their first official look into what 2017 will bring to the table from an aesthetic side, but also the technical side as we are able to see for the first time the new aerodynamic configurations on the car.
The new Delta shaped wing and re-configured rear wing set up gives the car a fresh and quite elegant design compared to the many sharp edges to the car we have seen in current years.
One thing immediately noticed, though, is that this car has not seemed to undergo as many major changes that were promised at the outset of the new 2017 rules and looks very similar to the previous generations of cars with the only thing noticeably different is the wings, tyre sizes, and the air box. It is hoped that the rule changes will help improve competition and lap times are hoped to decrease by significant margins.
The official release of Williams' car for 2017 is set for a later date.
